RASimAs prototypes have been released

results Viktor Voski, a physician at the Department of Anaesthesia, Uniklinik RWTH Aachen, was at SINTEF, Trondheim, Norway, and at SenseGraphics, Stockholm, Sweden to perform the final tests in the assistant and simulator prototypes before they are released to the clinical centers for evaluation.

08/07/2015: RASimAs: First Results of Excellence


Erik Smistad and Frank Lindseth of SINTEF Medical Technology, Norway, have been awarded at the MedViz Conference 2015.

RASimAs: First Results of Excellence Dr. Erik Smistad, a young researcher in Norway and part of the RASimAs team has presented a poster at MedViz Conference 2015 in Bergen, Norway, 15th -16th of June, 2015. MedViz - from vison to decision - is a cluster of groups performing interdisciplinary research in advanced image analysis and visualisation bridging the gap between bench and bedside. Erik presented novel methods for segmenting structures such as the femoral artery and nerve in ultrasound images of the femoral region, together with registration of a CT-based 3D model used to guide the user to the target area – a key component of RASimAs that has been developed under guidance of Dr. Frank Lindseth, a senior researcher at SINTEF.

European experts launch the RASimAs research project
34 European experts meet in Aachen (Germany) to bring virtual reality to medical doctors

RASimAs Consortium Aachen Scientists, healthcare professionals and industrials met for a two-days kickoff meeting at RWTH Aachen University (Germany) to get started the Regional Anaesthesia Simulator and Assistant (RASimAs) research project, recently funded with 3.3 Million Euro within the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. RAsimAs aims at providing a new virtual reality platform to medical doctors in order to assist and train them during regional anaesthesia practice. "Patient-specific training of regional anaesthesia provides a safer environment for the patients while saving costs of health care", recalls very enthusiastically to his colleagues Prof. Rolf Rossaint, Leading Anaesthesiologist at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen and Vice Rector of RWTH Aachen University.

New research project at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen measures 3.3 million Euros

Oliver Grottke Rasim Providing a new virtual reality platform to medical doctors in order to assist and train them during regional anaesthesia practice. That is the ambitious objective of the Regional Anaesthesia Simulator and Assistant (RASimAs) research project for the coming three years. "Patient-specific training of regional anaesthesia provides a safer environment for the patients while saving costs of health care", confirms Prof. Rolf Rossaint, Leading Anaesthesiologist at Uniklinik RWTH Aachen and Vice Rector of RWTH Aachen University (Germany).
